Bengaluru :: Karnataka’s Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge has directed officials to ensure strict implementation of the reservation policies under Article 371(J) of the Constitution, aimed at addressing regional disparities in the Kalyana Karnataka region. He emphasized that any negligence or disregard for these provisions by officials will result in disciplinary action. Chairing a review meeting at Vidhana Soudha, Kharge urged senior department heads and secretaries to personally attend progress review meetings. He noted that despite multiple circulars and reminders, several departments have failed to respond positively to the implementation of constitutional rights and facilities provided under Article 371(J). The Cabinet Sub-Committee has taken serious note of this apathy and has decided to conduct progress review meetings every 15 days with the concerned departments. Kharge further instructed all government secretaries and department heads to ensure compliance with the reservation policies. He also directed departments, including the police, to expedite the appointment process and issue orders to candidates who have completed recruitment procedures. Additionally, all departments have been asked to release a combined seniority list for local and residual parent cadres, in accordance with clear judicial directives. The Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department has been given a deadline to issue these orders by the end of the month to resolve any uncertainties regarding appointments.
